• Gehl 2480 Baler Specs

Dec 5, 2010 - Still looking for a good used round baler to replace my worn out JD. Wife won't let me spend a lot and I have found the Gehls to be priced very. A control system for a large round baler includes a microprocessor. Round baler monitoring and control. Tractor in response to manual input commands.

I've run about 2000 bales through it and lately it has been cutting or tearing the twine in the center of the bale while it is tying. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Is the ball sitting under the right gromet in the twine box?

Is it only happening on one twine or both? What size and kind of twine are you useing? I've found that the 20,000 ft sisal doesn't work as well as the 16,000 ft sisal in my 1475.

I'd look at the hole on the end of the twine arm, see if there's a burr or a rough spot inside it that would only catch the twine when the arm is extended straight back in the middle of tying. Or maybe the tensioners in the twine arm.

Had a problem with ours breaking twine on one line while it was tying and there was a burr on top of the tensioner in the twine arm.
